Will Vinegar Treat Toenail Fungus?
Toenail fungus infection is one of the most common ailments affecting people around the globe. Toenails in particular are susceptible to fungal infection because the fungus is more likely to grow in damp and dark environments. Perhaps the most common remedy used today by those who treat toenail fungus without professional medical intervention is vinegar.
Vinegar is a natural remedy for toenail fungus and can be used instead of harsh chemicals and synthetic medicines. Vinegar contains natural properties that cure and hinder the cause of toenail fungus.
Both white and apple cider vinegar can be used to eradicate nail bed fungal infections, so the type of vinegar used boils down to personal preference. Perhaps appropriately, this is both the cheapest remedy available as well as among the most effective.
Vinegar can be easily used to treat toenail fungus, so you don’t need any special training. Make a solution of one half vinegar and one half water. You should soak your feet in this solution at least once daily for 30 minutes, as well as alternate between cold and hot baths. In addition, a bath in the morning, mid-day, and evening are commonly recommended for a total of three baths daily.
Cuticles and tissues can become easily irritated by effects of the toenail fungus, since the fungus causes a pH imbalance that causes the skin to become more alkaline. Because the infection can quickly become serious and often causes itchiness and pain in the affected area, fungus should be treated immediately.
The acidic properties of vinegar restore the pH balance of the skin, which allows the integumentary system to relieve the itchiness associated with the infection. Various types of vinegar, which are inexpensive and readily available at most local groceries and supermarkets, are on the market today. These include the apple cider, balsamic, cane, coconut, fruit, malt, rice, and other varieties.
Although all varieties can be beneficial, apple cider vinegar in particular has demonstrated a reduction in the pain and inflammation that fungal infections cause. Additionally, you can kill bacteria and viruses by using hydrogen peroxide with the vinegar solution. An alternative to soaking your feet into a bath is to directly apply the vinegar on the base of the toenail at least twice a day. Just make sure that the vinegar will stay in place long enough to get the desired action from it. Two drops of vinegar are typically enough to effectively treat the problem.
You can effectively treat toenail fungus with vinegar. The next time you get infected, look to your kitchen cupboard first for this simple but efficient solution for your fungal problem.
