Taking Care of Your Reproductive Health and Prostate
Men may realize too late just how important reproductive health is. During their teens and early twenties, it seems like everything’s great. The healthy things men do to their body during their early adulthood will catch up to them when they’re older.
Some of the main problems in male function include erectile dysfunction or ED, and prostate diseases. Lack of energy or symptoms of other diseases may be causing the erectile dysfunction. The cause of ED may be physiological in nature. A man may be impotent because his circulation is not functioning well. Blood must flow freely from the heart to the genital area to supply the blood that’s necessary for penile function.
Generally, the men at risk of erectile dysfunction are those aged 40 and above. But recent studies have shown that men younger than 40 may already show symptoms of reproductive illnesses. Some risk factors of ED are smoking, drinking and other lifestyle diseases like diabetes. To prevent erectile dysfunction, men are advised to refrain from smoking and drinking in excess. Exercises like the Kegel Technique can also help alleviate symptoms of erectile dysfunction. The Kegel exercise strengthens the muscles along the perineum and also improves circulation in the gonad region.
Men should also deal with prostate health to continue living comfortably. The prostate gland is located along the anterior wall of the male reproductive organ system. The prostate is indirectly responsible for the release of semen during coitus. Men of advanced age suffer from prostatitis.
Any inflammation or pain in the gonad area up to the anus could mean prostatitis. Physicians would initially prescribe antibiotics to combat the infection in the prostate. More tests are required before the doctor can rule out other prostate diseases like prostate cancer. Urinalysis is usually done to make sure that the condition the patient is suffering from is indeed prostatitis. If a prostate infection is present, the number of white blood cells in the urine increases. One more symptom is the presence of throbbing pain inside the gonads, near the area of the anus.
Prostate massage was once thought of as the cure for prostatitis. Now, there is sufficient evidence that this may not be the solution to alleviating prostate problems. The bacteria can spread to other areas once the prostate is agitated by massage. But there are also evidences that massaging the prostate may also be beneficial for the long term, as far as preventive practices go. At the end of the day, a man should work to prevent prostatitis and infection in his reproductive tract by taking care of his nutrition. To improve reproductive health, a man must choose the supplements he will take and exercise regularly.
